This is the common application site for the joint REU programs coordinated through the School of Engineering & Applied Sciences. Please visit the links below for more information about the research of each center or institute, and which researchers are linked to each funding source.

You must be a currently enrolled undergraduate who will not graduate before December 2014. Many of our sources of funding also require that participants are Permanent Residents or Citizens of the U.S.

The 2014 program dates are Monday, June 9 to Saturday, August 16.

If you have not yet registered, please register in order to fill out the application form.


You may return as many times as you'd like to modify your application up until the application deadline of February 28, 2014, at which time you should submit your application. You may also check this website to see if your supplementary documents have arrived.

Please note that the application site is designed to time out after 3 hours. If you plan to leave your computer, please make sure you save your work - otherwise, any new content you enter will be lost.

We will ask for the following information in the online application:
  • Contact information
  • Demographic information (some optional)
  • Educational background, honors and awards
  • Any relevant research or work experience
  • Your research interests
  • A research statement and a personal statement
  • Contact information for your two references - see below for a letter/waiver to give your references.

In addition, we will need:

  • Two letters of recommendation sent to the address below. Applicants must arrange for letters to be sent by each reference. Letters may also be emailed to reu[at] or faxed to 617-812-0760. A signed waiver must accompany letters. Download waiver here.
